Regulatory Service Technologist

Bachoco USA is seeking a Regulatory Service Technologist for our Fort Smith, AR Corporate Headquarters. 

Summary: The Regulatory Services Technologist will have responsibilities in all areas of R&D regulatory services. The technologist will be responsible for project management in regulatory technical service areas accomplishing business strategies and departmental objectives in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for initiating, planning and monitoring assigned projects to assure a timely execution.
  • Responsible for drafting, implementing, and maintaining product specifications utilizing the OK Foods Specification System.
  • Responsible for all labeling functions including Child Nutrition labels and keeping abreast of government proposed and final rulings related to labeling.
  • Responsible for all nutritional functions including maintaining nutritional database, creating product recipes, generating customer reports.
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of all external customer specification databases (iCiX, Retail Link, ProSpec, ASPECT, 1SYNC, customer specific online databases…).
  • Responsible for running department during absence of Director which also includes being on-call 24/7 during Director’s absence.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Director of Regulatory and Customer Compliance.
  • Shall have the ability to independently make decisions in the areas of responsibility, handle pressure, coordinate multiple projects and have the maturity and skills necessary to interact with departmental peers.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Position will be involved in training of new hires.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or one to three years prior regulatory experience, and/or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver’s license and qualify for the company driving program
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive typing skills and knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software; preferably Word and Excel.  Other basic computer skills including knowledge of Windows software are also needed. 

Additional Information: Employee must be available for office hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some after-hours work including weekends and light traveling may also be required for this job.
