Senior Accounting Business Analyst

Under supervision of the Enterprise System Administrator (ESA), this position is accountable for writing reports and queries from the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, assisting with developing internal controls and providing administration, technical support, maintenance, customization, training and documentation updates for the Oracle ERP system.

  • Write queries of SQL database tables to create financial accounting reports.
  • Perform and monitor the balancing of accounts against internal accounting controls.
  • Examine various accounts to ensure the accuracy of the trial balance.
  • Validate accuracy of reports created in Oracle ERP.
  • Perform and coordinate the compilation of specific data from ledgers or other reports.
  • Analyze and interpret results from compiled data against previous journals, financial statements, ledgers, etc.
  • Assist with end user support issues surrounding the Oracle ERP system.
  • Write reports using business intelligence reporting tools.
  • Assist in coordinating with IT to update and implement user security and roles within Oracle ERP.
  • Assist in reviewing and auditing end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Align segregation of duties and security profiles.
  • Test and troubleshoot new system releases and plans for future requirements.
  • Maintain and update Oracle ERP user manuals and system documentation.
  • Oversee and conduct periodic system related training for users.
  • Provide coordination with IT in the implementation of system related revisions and updates.
  • Remain familiar with current accounting as well as Oracle ERP system trends, procedures, policies, techniques and products.

Minimum Requirements

Education and experience: The educational equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, computer science, business, information technology, or related field. Experience in accounting, finance, database management, or related field. Experience in writing business reports using database queries and other business intelligence reporting tools. 

Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and methods. Ability to apply accounting principles and methods to compile, analyze and interpret information and organize in report form. Ability to interpret and apply Department policies and procedures. Good communication skills and effective teaching/training skills. Attention to detail. Advanced knowledge of analytics utilizing Business Intelligence reporting or similar tools. Knowledge of database technology including development of database queries and customization. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software technologies. Ability to participate with project teams effectively and assist in facilitating meetings to bring disparate skill sets and viewpoints together to solve problems. Ability to follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and data. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

Working conditions: Office environment. Occasional travel to various locations within the state.

Licenses, registrations and certifications: Valid driver's license.
