Instructor of Nursing

This role involves teaching in our Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing Programs, overseeing clinical practice, mentoring adjunct instructors, and contributing to related health courses and evening/weekend activities.

The Instructor of Nursing position is a full-time twelve (12) month nursing education faculty member for the Nursing program on the ASU-Heber Springs campus. The selected faculty member will be able to teach all phases of the Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing Programs: supervise clinical practice; supervise extra help clinical instructors, as needed; teach other health-related classes, and assist with the evening and weekend classes and activities as required. The candidate should strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment; providing high quality instruction and advising; participating in the development of learning outcomes and in the assessment of students as well as of self and applied teaching techniques in order to increase effectiveness; and engaging in ongoing professional development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare and read over assigned lesson plans
  2. Present lesson plans to students
  3. Administer and grade tests and student assignments
  4. Advise students
  5. Supervise students in all aspects of clinical education
  6. Work closely with supervisor regarding nursing education teaching materials
  7. Order needed supplies to teach required material
  8. Work with supervisor regarding materials being presented and problems encountered
  9. Clinical supervision of client care by students
  10. Make clinical assignments for students based upon students’ knowledge level and abilities
  11. Calculate student grades
  12. Collaboration with faculty and administration on curriculum development, revision, and updates
  13. Attend nursing faculty and department meetings, division meetings, and advisory meetings
  14. Travel to other ASU-Beebe campuses and clinical sites for teaching and meetings.
  15. Assist students with all invasive procedures performed on clients at clinical sites

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Education/Experience: Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license in Arkansas; Associate’s Degree in Nursing; and must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
