Award Specialist II - Office of Sponsored Programs Support

Summary of Job Duties:

The Award Specialist II will work with departmental representatives, Principal Investigators (PIs), research accountants, Award Management Team Leads, Award Specialists, and external sponsors to manage the lifecycle of research awards. Award Specialist II will perform a variety of analytical activities to ensure compliance with various accounting principles, sponsor requirements, federal and state guidelines, and institutional policies. This position will also perform account financial reconciliation for assigned departments constituencies, monitoring of sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance with federal and sponsor regulations, managing payroll and sponsored project effort, preparation of required financial and accounting reports to sponsors, sponsored project financial and non-financial closeout according to Institutional policy and good accounting practices and institutional audit engagement and response.

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university

At least three to five years of progressively responsible experience within the field of research administration /sponsored programs administration, including financial management in a university, non-profit or research institution

Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to work with personnel at all levels to gather information; communicate compliance and financial requirements)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with University of Arkansas' Workday enterprise accounting systems

Experience with University of Arkansas' Streamlyne system or other electronic research administration systems

Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator or industry-accepted credentials

Two to three years of post-award experience
