Nanofabrication Lab Manager - Department of Physics Research Assistants

Summary of Job Duties:
The individual will be providing technical and scientific support to our User Nanofabrication Facility which serves Students and Faculty of the University of Arkansas. We are searching for a talented individual with strong analytical skills to work as a senior research associate assisting with day-to-day operations of a wide range of Nanofabrication processes such as physical and chemical vapor deposition systems, wet and dry-etching, photolithography, and related processes. The individual will provide training to students and faculty on these and other instrumentation, control an appointment calendar for usage, and maintain and repair equipment as needed.
The individual must have a background in Materials Sciences, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering and at least some experience working on Nanofabrication equipment. More specifically, the individual must be able to work with compressed gases, acids and other chemicals and will be expected to fulfill the following tasks:
• Train students and researchers on the different nan-fabrication steps.
• Develop teaching strategies for training students.
• Troubleshoot and fix minor equipment problems
• Keep the facility in compliance with Environmental Health and Safety Department.
• Be involved in tours of the facility, to educate U of A faculty/staff and other guests of the scientific services that our facility has to offer.
• Advertise the facility to reach potential users
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A BS degree in Materials Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics or related fields
At least two years’ experience working in a Nano- Fabrication and clean room facilities.
Candidates must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills for successful inter and intra-group interactions
Strong accountability, self-initiative and proactive attitude are required
Preferred Qualifications:
A MS or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
