JOB TITLE: Audio-Visual Technician Intern
JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide technical assistance in the operations of sound, lighting, stage systems, audio-visual equipment, and in-house customer-related telephone installation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Installs and connects audio-visual equipment, telephone-related equipment, and installs required wiring.
- Provides assistance as required to ensure coverage of technical requirements of scheduled stage and non-stage production events, including, but not limited to, hanging of soft goods, electrical, sound, supplemental rental equipment, and building modification.
- Provides assistance in maintaining all stage systems and equipment.
- Performs inspections and maintains associated records of sound, lighting, audio-visual equipment and theatrical equipment.
- Ensures set-up of sound systems, stage lighting, audio-visual equipment, and theatrical equipment by outside contractors to meet event requirements.
- Operates a computer with spreadsheet and word processing software.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of sound, lighting, audio-visual staging, and mechanical rigging including electricity and electronic system and equipment set-up, operation, maintenance, design, and construction.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in the operation and maintenance of theatre equipment.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of stage and non-stage production events.
- Knowledge of computer fundamentals and spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Skill in the operation of lighting and audio equipment.
- Skill in the operation of a computer with spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
