Project Engineer

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is searching for a Project Engineer who will thrive in our Industrial Building Group. Our Industrial Building Group provides full service industrial & manufacturing plant construction & construction management.

The Project Engineer plays a key management role in the organization and implementation of the project from start to finish. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating all materials and equipment for the project as well as reviewing approving or rejecting all materials. They assist with supervising the activities of the Office Engineer, Project Coordinator, Project Assistants, and Interns. This position reports directly to a Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up file structure for new jobs.
  • Scan documents as needed for cloud storage. 
  • Take jobsite photographs and catalog photographs
  • Review specifications and set up submittal log in Procore.
  • Materials Management - includes submittals, shop drawings, samples, mock-ups, and expediting material deliveries.
  • Works closely with APM and PM on claims for costs and time impacts during the submittal phase.
  • Management of RFIs.
  • Manage & update digital construction plans.
  • Ensure that the work is being built to the most up to date drawings, specs., addendum, standards, etc.
  • Work with the Project Manager and Superintendent to perform on-site quality control reviews and ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Assist in preparation of weekly schedule updates and engage in LEAN construction planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, plus at least 1 year of experience in construction or equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial construction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills including presentations, interactions with clients, and with managing field operations.
  • Must possess strong documentation, organizational and time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to study, understand and communicate a project’s plans and specs.
  • Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to Baldwin & Shell standards and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Procore, Vista, Docuware, Bluebeam and Adobe Pro preferred but not required.
  • Experience with digital take off software or estimating software preferred but not required.
